AGCO Corporation, a leading global agricultural equipment manufacturer, was established in 1990 when the North American management team of Deutz-Allis acquired the company's assets and rebranded it as AGCO (Allis-Gleaner Company). This strategic move marked the beginning of AGCO's journey to become a major player in the agricultural machinery industry. The company's initial focus was on tractors, which were marketed under the AGCO Allis brand name. AGCO's growth strategy was characterized by a series of significant acquisitions that expanded its product portfolio and global reach. In 1991, AGCO acquired White Tractors, followed by the landmark acquisition of Massey Ferguson in 1994, which significantly strengthened its position in the global market. The 1997 acquisition of Fendt, a renowned German manufacturer known for its high-tech tractors, further solidified AGCO's reputation for innovation and quality. In 2002, AGCO made two major acquisitions: the Challenger line from Caterpillar and Valtra (formerly Valmet), which expanded its offerings in the high-horsepower and Nordic markets, respectively. By 2001, AGCO had phased out the AGCO White and AGCO Allis brands, unifying its product lines under the AGCO brand. However, in 2009, the company decided to phase out the AGCO brand name in favor of its well-established subsidiary brands, such as Massey Ferguson and Challenger, to leverage their strong market presence and customer loyalty.
