Huber is a historic American agricultural machinery manufacturer with roots tracing back to 1865 when it was founded in Marion, Ohio. Initially focused on steam engines and farm implements, Huber made a pivotal shift in 1898 by adapting a gasoline engine to a steam tractor chassis, marking an early foray into internal combustion technology. By 1911, the company had fully transitioned to manufacturing a complete line of gas-powered tractors, establishing itself as an innovative force in the early 20th-century agricultural equipment market. Huber's tractors were known for their reliability and advanced engineering for the time. However, the company's trajectory changed dramatically during World War II when it was directed to cease tractor production and shift its focus to construction equipment to support the war effort. This strategic pivot marked the beginning of the end for Huber's tractor manufacturing legacy. In the 1960s, the company was sold, and the iconic Marion factory, which had been the heart of its operations for decades, was closed in 1977, signaling the definitive conclusion of Huber's chapter in the agricultural machinery industry.
