Marshall, Sons and Company was a distinguished British manufacturer of agricultural machinery and tractors with a rich heritage spanning much of the 20th century. Founded in 1900, the company initially gained prominence for its steam and gasoline traction engines, which were widely used in agricultural and industrial applications during the early 1900s. Marshall's engineering prowess and commitment to innovation were evident in their post-World War II product lineup, most notably with the introduction of the Field Marshall diesel tractor in 1945. This model became a symbol of the company's engineering excellence and played a significant role in the modernization of British agriculture. In 1982, Marshall expanded its operations by acquiring Leyland tractors, integrating their product lines and rebranding them under the Marshall name. However, the company faced increasing challenges in the competitive global tractor market, ultimately leading to the cessation of tractor production in 1992. Despite this, Marshall's legacy endures as a testament to British engineering and agricultural innovation.
