McCormick-Deering was a prominent brand in agricultural machinery during the early 20th century, closely associated with International Harvester. The brand's origins trace back to Cyrus McCormick, who revolutionized farming with the invention of the first successful mechanical reaper in 1831. This innovation laid the groundwork for what would eventually become International Harvester, a conglomerate formed from the merger of McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and other entities. In 1923, International Harvester introduced the McCormick-Deering brand to market its new line of standard (wide) front tractors, including the popular 10-20 and 15-30 models. These tractors were designed to meet the demands of American and international farmers, providing reliable and powerful machinery for a variety of agricultural tasks. The McCormick-Deering name adorned tractors and machinery for the next three decades, becoming synonymous with durability and innovation in the agricultural sector. However, by the mid-20th century, the brand was phased out as International Harvester consolidated its product lines under the International name. Today, McCormick-Deering is remembered as a significant chapter in the history of agricultural machinery, representing a period of rapid technological advancement and the transition to mechanized farming.
