Corbitt Tractors & Lineup
The Corbitt Company, founded in 1913 by Richard Corbitt, initially gained recognition for its horse-drawn buggies and automobiles before transitioning to a more prominent role in the truck manufacturing industry. Headquartered in Henderson, North Carolina, Corbitt quickly established itself as a reliable supplier of trucks, particularly for military applications, with many units serving the US Army during pivotal periods. In a strategic pivot around 1949, Corbitt ventured into the agricultural sector by producing a series of farm tractors. These tractors, known for their durability and practicality, found a significant market in South America, where they were widely exported. Corbitt's tractor line, although relatively short-lived, showcased the company's adaptability and innovative spirit in the post-war era. However, the company's fortunes took a downturn following the retirement of its founder, Richard Corbitt, in 1952. Without his leadership, Corbitt struggled to maintain its market position and eventually ceased operations, marking its place in history as a niche manufacturer with a unique legacy in both military and agricultural machinery.
