Engine demand (706.4 HP) exceeds rated power (650 HP). Reduce working speed by 1.0-1.5 mph or reduce working width.

Tractor is currently light for this heavy draft tool. Add ~8165 kg (18,000 lbs) ballast to prevent tire slip and premature wear.

Target ballast is capped at 78,000 lbs based on structural engineering estimate (~135% base weight; official manufacturer GVWR unrecorded). Avoid adding excess ballast beyond this benchmark to protect axle bearings and chassis.

Big Bud

USA • 30 Models

Big Bud Tractors Inc. emerged from the Wagner tractor dealership in Havre, Montana in 1961, establishing itself as a pioneering force in the heavy-duty tractor market. The company quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach, producing high-horsepower tractors designed for industrial applications. Big Bud's tractors were distinguished by their custom-built frames and the use of powerful industrial engines, setting new standards for performance and durability in the agricultural machinery industry. The company introduced several groundbreaking features, including tilt cabins and a skid system for engine removal, which further cemented its reputation for engineering excellence. Despite its innovative spirit and strong market presence, Big Bud faced challenges in the late 1980s, leading to its acquisition by Messner Brothers in 1985. Under new ownership, the company continued to operate but eventually ceased production in 1992, marking the end of an era for this iconic American tractor manufacturer.
