Cameco Industries, founded in Louisiana, was a specialized manufacturer of heavy-duty tractors designed for demanding applications such as sugar cane farming and construction work. The company's tractors were known for their robust construction and specialized capabilities, particularly in the sugar cane industry where they became a trusted name. In 1998, Cameco was acquired by Deere & Company, a global leader in agricultural and construction equipment. This acquisition allowed Deere & Company to expand its product offerings and strengthen its position in the specialized equipment market. Following the acquisition, the Cameco brand continued to operate independently for a period, maintaining its distinctive yellow paint scheme and product identity. However, by 2006, the Cameco branding was fully phased out, and the company was fully integrated into John Deere's product lineup, with all equipment being rebranded under the iconic green John Deere colors. This strategic move marked the end of the Cameco brand as a standalone entity, but its legacy lived on through the continued use of its specialized technologies and designs within the John Deere product family.
