Cub Cadet is an iconic American brand renowned for its lawn and garden equipment, with a rich history that dates back to its founding as a division of International Harvester (IH) in 1960. The brand was established to produce small tractors and equipment for residential and commercial use, quickly gaining a reputation for innovation and quality. The first Cub Cadet model, introduced in 1961, was a revolutionary product that set new standards for residential lawn tractors with its advanced engineering and durable construction. In 1981, International Harvester sold the Cub Cadet line to MTD Products, a significant turning point that marked the brand's transition from agricultural machinery to a leading producer of consumer and commercial outdoor power equipment. Under MTD's ownership, Cub Cadet expanded its product offerings and solidified its position as a market leader in the lawn and garden industry. A notable chapter in Cub Cadet's history was its collaboration with Mitsubishi, which led to the importation of compact tractors into North America under the Cub Cadet brand in 1993. This partnership underscored the brand's commitment to delivering versatile and reliable equipment. In 2006, MTD entered into an agreement with Yanmar to sell compact tractors under the Cub Cadet Yanmar brand, further expanding the brand's reach and product diversity. However, this partnership evolved, and in 2011, Yanmar assumed full control over the tractors, leading to the discontinuation of the Cub Cadet name on compact tractors.
