Terraplane

Terraplane was a short-lived brand of agricultural machinery and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) that operated in the United States from 2002 to 2004. The brand was established by TerraSales, a company based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which imported tractors and ATVs from China for distribution in the American market. Terraplane entered the market at a time when there was growing demand for affordable agricultural equipment, particularly among small-scale farmers and hobbyists. The brand's strategy focused on selling through a network of small, non-traditional dealerships, including car dealerships, to reach a broader customer base. However, despite its innovative distribution model, Terraplane faced significant challenges. These included quality control issues common with imported machinery and intense competition from established brands with stronger dealer networks and better after-sales support. By the end of 2004, Terraplane ceased operations, marking a brief but notable chapter in the history of agricultural machinery importation.
